  MAMELUKES 1805-1814

  During the campaign in Egypt, a troop of Oriental auxiliary Cavalry served with Bonaparte's Army. This troop accompanied the Army on its return to France and Napoleon, as a reward for their faithfulness, made these MAMELUKES part of his Guard, attached to the Regiment of Chasseurs à Cheval.
